About

Aimee discovered her creative side through art therapy, later going on to study at West Dean where she discovered jewellery and working with metal. She was encouraged to combine her love of nature with her new found passion for creating and designing jewellery. Later she studied at K2 Academy of Contemporary Jewellery, where she gained an understanding of both traditional and contemporary jewellery, developing her own style.

Aimee’s inspiration comes from nature, from being outside and reading books about wildlife and plants. She enjoys the small details; weeds and moss, lichen and tiny insects, often missing the bigger picture - the giant tree on which they crawl, or the pavement from which they grow. She is a wanderer, her pockets full of things found along the way that could inspire her work.

Her studio is filled with twigs and bones, birds nests and other curiosities, waiting to inspire a new design. In the studio she sits with objects collected and she draws and paints, picking out shapes and textures that could work as a new design. So much of our nature in this world is overlooked and disappearing - finding new plants and animals to provide inspiration and being able to introduce them to others is important to her.

She works with silver and gold and enjoys experimenting with unusual materials, like horse hair and fish scales, or evoking organic effects through techniques such as patination.

Taking inspiration from forms and textures, discovering something new fills her with a sense of wonder and joy. This is the feeling she wants to evoke in the wearer of her jewellery - one of discovery and excitement in owning a unique, handmade piece.
